Level 2: Single Device with External Monitoring
Scope of Service
- Send each patient a cellular device (BP, Glucometer, Scale)
- Patient data is fed to a weekday 9-5 monitoring team
- Monitoring team spends 20 minutes/month interacting with patient
- Monthly letters, weekly text/e-mail
Cost: $400-600 per patient per pregnancy
Pros and Cons
- Pros: simple, no tech experience required of patient, nurse involvement to ask questions and identify problems early
- Cons: no video (except through patient BYOD*), only 1 peripheral
*BYOD=Bring Your Own Device. It means using the patient’s
own equipment, typically a smart phone, for video chat.
